I wasn’t doing anything so I thought I’d go for a run. Well, I thought I wasn’t doing anything until I mentioned it to Cherie (wife). One little chore to be done, grocery shopping and she had the list prepared. I don’t’ mind grocery shopping, the kids don’t mind either, because I always get the extras.

After yesterday’s You Yangs run Robert, Colin and I were talking about sports drinks and energy gels. I mentioned that I make my own gel. Robert suggested diluting it with water in the first instance rather than carrying both the gel and water. Well for today’s run I did exactly that, my gel was now a form of sports drink. Later in the week I’ll recalculate the nutritional per 100 ml values after diluting it with a litre of water. The taste wasn’t bad either.

The run was uneventful, one of those ‘run of the mill’ runs. (how many times can I get the word ‘run’ in a sentence) Not a bad day for it and heaps of families down by the river. I don’t know who they are but some are starting to recognize me and we exchange pleasantries.

I pulled up ok after yesterday’s You Yangs effort. My legs were a little tight but no more than expected.

I'm glad you've got the Motionbased link, although I'm getting better at roughly converting km to mi in my head. Nice pace!

Right now I am more concerned with what I wear than hydration on my recent runs with it being about 13 degrees F here in South Dakota. I've typically been wearing long johns, sweatpants, a t-shirt, two sweat shirts, wool hat and thin gloves, which seem to do the trick. That's one of the great things about S.D. is the extreme range of weather. We'll be burning up when mid-summer comes.
